Get It Racked:

Racking by Dreymar Industrial

Our warehouse racking is designed and built for one purpose: Storage.

Our racking is manufactured from high quality and heavy-duty components capable of performing at high standards through continuous daily use.

We understand the rigorous demands of the modern warehouse.

When space is at a premium, smart warehouse racking is the cost-effective solution.

Racking can be configured to suit the needs of the warehouse in which it will be installed.

For most business, the goal of racking a warehouse is to improve: Storage Density, Product Throughput, Accessibility, and Speed of Pick.

All racking installations should ensure adequate product safety and throughput to maximise efficiency and space utilisation within the warehouse. This ultimately helping to improve the bottom line of the warehouse in which the racking is installed.

What is Racking?

Racking is a system of warehouse storage.

Racking is a steel structure which is constructed of vertical frames and horizontal beams. This steel structure allows pallets to be stored both vertically and horizontally for efficient use of space within a warehouse.

Forklift trucks are used to load pallets on and off the racking within a warehouse.

There are a range of different racking systems available.

Each system meets different storage and access requirements, allowing a wide variety of pallets and goods to be stored and accessed for picking and processing as efficiently as possible.

How does Racking work?

To put it simply, racking is used for storage.

The basic principle of any racking system is that pallets/goods are loaded onto a steel racking structure and then retrieved, or picked from, as required.

Forklifts are used to move the pallets onto/off the racks, and to move the pallets to different areas of the warehouse.

It is important to note that there are various racking systems that each work in different ways.

What are the standard features of Racking?

A standard racking installation typically includes the following components:

  • Vertical End Frames
  • Horizontal Cross Beams
  • Floor Safety Anchors
  • Beam Locking Pins
  • Frame Post Protectors

Most racking layouts include aisles in between the rows of racking for ease of forklift access.

However there are a variety of systems that provide higher storage density by placing racks higher, closer together or in such a way that multiple pallets can be loaded and unloaded from one access point.

Some racking systems are designed to suit First In First Out methods of processing, whereas other systems are better suited to First In Last Out Storage.

Other options include either gravity or self-powered dynamic systems in which pallets automatically move through the racks allowing greater efficiency of input and output to be achieved.

What are the benefits of Racking?

The key benefits of Racking include:

  • Decreased stock damages
  • Improved product and pallet selectivity
  • Easily scalable to suit the ongoing needs of your operation
  • Maximise floor space in your warehouse with a high-density storage system
  • Provides easy access to inventory; improving staff productivity and overall efficiency

How do I select the right type of Racking for my warehouse?

It is vital that racking is designed to make the most efficient use of the space available for palletised goods in a warehouse. Racking storage systems need to increase the storage capacity of the warehouse in which they are installed,

All racking installations need to be designed to accommodate the individual needs of each business, ensuring adequate capacity for the storage and access requirements of each warehouse.

Selecting the most suitable type of racking storage is one of the most important aspects in achieving and optimizing efficiency, productivity, and safety within the warehouse.

Areas to consider when choosing the right storage racking for your warehouse include the following:

  • The type of goods to be stored
  • The speed of throughput required
  • Sizes & weights of goods & pallets
  • The type of handling equipment used
  • Stock rotation and access requirements
  • Height available for the racking installation
  • Floor space available for the racking installation

Our free no obligation site survey will identify racking requirements and enable our experienced team to design the most suitable racking solution to meet these requirements.

How much does Racking cost?

The cost of racking is determined by several key factors, including:

  • Size
  • Specification
  • Number of Pallets
  • Available Floor Space
  • Type of Racking required

Unfortunately there is no "one cost fits all" approach to warehouse racking, as each clients needs and suitable systems differ.

We always begin with a detailed needs analysis which allows us to provide an accurate quotation with no nasty surprises
