Within each category we offer various types of castors and wheels, from small wheels for trolleys all the way through to heavy duty trolley wheels. Each type of castor and trolley wheel we supply is suitable for a wide range of different applications.

What is a Castor Wheel?

A castor is a relatively small, undriven wheel that is housed within a small steel structure (called a housing) that allows the castor to attach to the bottom of a larger object (most often a trolley)

This allows the larger object to be moved freely and easily.

“Undriven” means that the wheel is free rolling and not powered in any way.

The next time you are at the local supermarket, have a look at the bottom of the nearest shopping trolley and you will see castor wheels in action.

It is important to note that the word “castor” can also be spelt “caster” – “Caster” is the US form of the word and both versions are widely accepted and refer to the same product.

What are the benefits of using Castor Wheels?

Because castor wheels and trolley wheels are attached to objects to make them easier to move, they offer a wide range of benefits:

  • Versatile
  • Time-Saving
  • Improves Mobility

Castor wheels are wersatile:

There are a wide range of caster and wheels available in many different sizes, materials, and load ratings. This means that they are suitable for a variety of applications and can suit almost any environment.

Castor wheels helps you saves time:

It makes sense that if something is easier to move, it will move more quickly. In a facility where products or equipment are moved frequently, castor wheels drastically speed up the process, improving efficiency and productivity in the warehouse, factory or business where they are used.

Castor wheels improve mobility:

The most obvious benefit of castors is that they allow equipment that would otherwise be stationary to move.

This saves both time and energy in loading and offloading functions, which ultimately helps to improve the bottom line. Staff will not get exhausted and will not get injured trying to move heavy or awkward cargo. In addition to making equipment easier to move, swivel castors allow you to move it in any direction.

Where are castor wheels most often used?

One of the most popular functions of castors in the world is their use as a trolley wheel.

Castor wheels have a wide range of functions and uses throughout the world, the entire list is almost endless. They can be used on:

What are the standard sizes of Castor Wheels?

The wide variety of different size castor wheels available ensures that they are perfectly suited to any number of different applications:

Each castor wheel is available in three different types of housing mechanisms:

  • Plate Fixed

Each of these models of castor wheels are attached to an object (most often a trolley) using four bolts and nuts (or screws) which go into each corner of the plate (Please refer to the specific plate size, bolt size and hole spacing of each individual castor wheel for more detailed information)

Certain caster and wheel models are available with a Bolt-Hole fitting: This fitting allows the castor wheels to be attached using a single, centre bolt.
